It had to be a prank. A letter to Dr. Hirofumi, from a patient of his who’d died three years ago—now inviting him to come out to the country and spend some time there!
Then he followed the letter to its source, and realized all too late that he’d slid into a new world—one shaped by the fears and desires of all those who were lucky enough to survive the journey.
In that “changed place,” as those who live there call it, he discovered the new powers to be awakened within himself and others. He found friends and loved ones, both new and old—and he came to understand his new world far better than he had ever dreamed.

The remaster of "Summerworld", the first of my novels, is out at last!

I'm happy to announce Summerworld, the first book I put out under the Genji Press banner has been remastered and re-released under the Infinimata Press label. It's available through Amazon in Kindle e-book and print versions.
The remaster of 'Summerworld' is on the way, with as many deletions as additions and changes.

Last night after too damn much procrastinating I sat down and began the work of remastering the first of the former Genji Press (now Infinimata) titles, Summerworld. I'd already assembled cover art for it, as shown here, but hadn't yet started work on cleaning up the interior. This is the first of the remasters where I find myself removing as much from the original as I find myself adding new things.
After some puttering, I think I finally have a good new cover design for 'Summerworld'.

This past week I worked on new cover designs for Summerworld, one of the tougher books in my collection to create art for. After some scavenging, I settled on two images I wanted to use: the "cityscape" image, and the "portal" image. This was the first attempt at making use of them:
Ebook.

I'm pleased to announce that after much wrangling, uploading, and banging on this-that-and-the-other, Summerworld is now available in the Amazon Kindle marketplace. Because of the way e-books work, it's taken some time to get it properly formatted and uploaded, but I think I finally have the worst problems overcome.
Versions for the iTunes bookstore and the Barnes & Noble Nook are also on the way; I'll post when those are up.
Read it, review it, recommend it.

Self-publishing brings with it any number of hazards and peculiar conditions. One of them, as I've discovered, is how you can end up with an amazing array of slightly inconsistent product.
Back when I first launched Genji Press, I experimented with a couple of different book formatting options. I eventually settled on the closest thing to a trade paperback edition, both in size and paper quality — but by that time I'd already ordered, and sold, a number of books in other sizes and configurations. Also, by that time, I'd ended up fixing a number of small problems with the texts themselves — typos, dropped lines, switched phrases, etc.
To that end, I've got a few leftovers — blems, if you will. These are older copies of my books which are remnants of that experimental period, in a variety of sizes and with a variety of defects. Right now all I have are copies of Summerworld, but others may turn up from time to time.
What I thought I'd do is pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes sell these "blems" as special collector's items — but not at exorbitant prices. Instead, I'm selling them for a flat $10 (+$2 post) each -- along with a CD-ROM that includes the full and most recent text of the book in PDF format. So think of it as buying an e-text version of the book, with an accompanying paper copy!
Because quantities are limited, I can't guarantee which copy you'll receive from the above picture. It's first-come, first-serve.

Call me absentminded, just don't call me late for dinner! A (positive) review of Summerworld went up at Gloria Oliver's blog a ways back and I totally freakin' forgot to link to it. Silly me....

The Lulu Book Review Blog has an enthusiastic and spot-on review of Summerworld:
Serdar was one of the very first authors to query his book to us hereat LLBR when we were getting started, and we almost passed on it. I’mso glad we didn’t. It’s philosophical journey, mixed with fantasy andrealism and set in a world created somewhere between our own andwhatever else is out there, is one I am now happy to have taken.
Thanks so much to Shannon Yarbrough for the great review!
