I found a nice surprise waiting for me on the doorstep yesterday: the proof copy of the newly-remastered version of Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned.
(The slightly funny look of the cover is parallax from the camera lens; it doesn't look that weird in real life.)
From what a cursory glance shows me, all is good, but I'll be giving it a more rigorous look-see with a checklist this weekend. If it passes muster, then I'll approve it Sunday evening and it should be ready for purchase in the coming week. Next up after this is Welcome To The Fold. The interior and exterior are pretty much baked; I just have to upload them and order proofs.
Summerworld's new design will come after that. With that book, though, I'm probably going to make a major change: the original interior design had some fancy iconography at each chapter heading, but I am going to do away with that for the reissue, partly because I don't have the font for it anymore, and because I want the internal designs to be consistent where possible too. That was an artifact of a time when I was a little drunk with the possibilities that typography and design allowed, and now that I've sobered up somewhat I have a better sense of why one bothers to use such things at all.
