Due to a whole bunch of stuff beyond my control, I've had to bow out of making my appearance at AnimeFest this year. That was where I had planned to debut Flight of the Vajra, but there's nothing that says it has to happen there. It's just what my plan was, and life is what happens while you're off making plans.
The book itself will be released in the next week or so, and you will hear all kinds of screaming about it right here when that does happen. I'm also going to be aggressively exploring some other, and what I hope to be far more directly fruitful, avenues of promotion both for that book and the rest of my oeuvre.
This isn't a slap at AnimeFest or any convention at all, really, but I think I'm learning a hard lesson about the ways to promote one's own work. Cons are great if people already know you; if you aren't a known quantity, then they all too easily become a place to get lost in the crowd. I thought that by building a consistent presence at a particular con I could get a foothold of sorts, but it doesn't work that way: the turnover in the crowd is too great, for one.
Also, my posts may continue to be slow for the next couple of weeks. I'm about to start a new job (more on that later), and I need to get caught up before that officially kicks in.
